Permanent Residence & Swedish Citizenship – Sweden

Hassle-free visa processing for your travel needs.

Overview

If you are a non-EU/EEA national residing in Sweden on a temporary residence permit, you may be eligible to apply for a permanent residence permit or Swedish citizenship based on your residence history, legal status, and fulfilment of specific requirements.

permanent residence permit gives you the right to live and work in Sweden without time restrictions, as long as you continue to reside in the country. You can usually apply when extending your current residence permit. Eligibility and requirements vary depending on your current permit type, such as work, studies, family reunification, asylum, or self-employment.

Swedish citizenship can be acquired through application or notification, depending on your background and nationality. Once granted, it allows you to vote, obtain a Swedish passport, and enjoy full civil rights in Sweden. The path to citizenship is available to adults, children, Nordic citizens, stateless individuals born in Sweden, and those with established long-term residence.
