Short Stay Visa

Documents Required

All documents listed below are mandatory. Each applicant must submit their own set of documents.
Important: Most documents required for your visa application must be recent and dated within the last 30 days at the time of submission. Ensure all paperwork meets this requirement to avoid delays or rejection.

Application Form

• Completed and signed Schengen visa application form (in English or Swedish)

Photograph

• One recent passport-sized colour photo (not older than 6 months)

(Refer to the Photo Specifications section for full guidance.)

Passport

• Valid passport or travel document
• Must be valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure from the Schengen Area
• Must contain at least two blank pages
• Copy of the passport’s biodata page

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code

Travel Medical Insurance

• Must be valid for the entire duration of stay and in all Schengen countries
• Minimum coverage of 30,000 EUR
• Must cover emergency medical care, hospitalisation, and repatriation

Proof of Travel

• Return flight reservation to the UK
• If applicable, onward travel booking or valid authorisation for the next destination

Proof of Accommodation

• Hotel or accommodation booking covering the full stay
• OR sponsorship documents confirming accommodation arrangements

Proof of Finance

• UK bank statements for the last 3 months showing the applicant’s name and account balance
• OR credit card statement including name and spending limit
• If financially supported by a parent or spouse:
  • Marriage certificate or birth certificate (as applicable)
  • Sponsor’s bank statements (last 3 months)
  • Signed declaration of financial support

Proof of Employment (if applicable)

(Documents must be recent and dated within the last 30 days at the time of submission.)

For employed applicants

• Recent employer letter stating position, salary, contact details, and UK registration number
• Last 3 months’ payslips

For self-employed applicants

• Signed letter from accountant, solicitor or banker confirming business activity and annual income
• Self-assessment tax return

For unemployed / pensioners / others

• Proof of income or evidence of ties to the UK

For students

• Recent, signed letter from your UK school, college, or university
• Must include type of study, number of weekly hours, and attendance record

Purpose-Specific Documents

Study

• Certificate of enrolment from the school, college, or university in Sweden clearly stating the applicant’s name, course title, and dates of study
• Student card or official document confirming registration for the course
• If applicable, supporting documents outlining course content or study objectives
• Proof of accommodation arrangements in Sweden (e.g. university housing confirmation or private rental agreement)
• If accommodation is not confirmed, proof of sufficient financial means to cover housing costs

Training

• Official invitation letter from the training provider or institution in Sweden
• Letter must include the applicant’s name, purpose of the training, dates, duration, and venue
• Overview of the training programme or curriculum
• Confirmation of participation or registration
• Proof of accommodation in Sweden during the training period
• If accommodation is not included, proof of sufficient funds to cover the costs
• If applicable, internship agreement signed by all parties (intern, host organisation, and training coordinator)

Conference

• Formal invitation or confirmation of registration for the conference, seminar, or workshop
• Invitation letter should clearly indicate the event name, applicant’s role (e.g. attendee, speaker, delegate), event dates, and location
• Entry tickets, confirmation emails, or booking references related to the event
• Conference agenda, schedule, or programme (if available)
• Details of accommodation during the conference
• If accommodation is not pre-arranged, proof of ability to cover accommodation costs

Photo Specifications

• Full face, directly facing the camera, with a neutral expression and eyes clearly visible
• Taken against a plain, light-coloured background (preferably white or light grey)
• The image must be sharp, in focus, and not digitally altered
• Head coverings are not permitted, except for religious reasons; in such cases, facial features must be fully visible from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead, and from ear to ear
• The photo must not contain any shadows, red-eye, or reflections
• Glasses are permitted if they do not obstruct the eyes or cause glare; tinted or dark glasses are not acceptable unless medically required
• The photo must not be more than 6 months old and must clearly resemble the applicant at the time of submission
• Size should be approximately 35mm x 45mm (standard EU/Schengen size)
• Only required for applicants under the age of 12, or for those who have not submitted biometrics for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months
